Hardy presented Broadley with an inscribed copy of The Dynasts, Part 2, "as a quite inadequate return gift" for Three Dorset Captains (sold in the sale of Broadley's library, Part 2, Hodgson's, 7-8 December 1916, lot 102). For Broadley's own copy of Three Dorset Captains see lot 38.
