Original canvas. UV light reveals a couple of very minor spots of retouching in the lower centre and in the upper part of the crucifix. There is a small puncture in the upper right of the centre, some paint flaking in the trees in the upper right, and some light surface dirt. Held in a coved gold-painted wood and plaster frame. The canvas is rectangular, and the canvas outside of the painted oval depicted in the catalogue illustration is painted brown.
