Description

Designed as bows, the first of openwork design set with old European and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.15 carats, with onyx accents, mounted in platinum, circa 1915; the second brooch centered by an old mine-cut diamond weighing approximately 1.40 carats, further set with numerous round and old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately 5.50 carats, one diamond missing, circa 1880.
Condition
DIAMOND AND ONYX BROOCH: Good condition with light surface wear. The central onyx bearing a small chip; the remaining onyxes with small abrasions. The diamonds are approximately I-J color, and predominantly SI clarity, with some examples exhibiting chipping. DIAMOND BROOCH: Good condition with surface wear and tarnishing to the silver-topped gold mounting commensurate with age. The central diamond is approximately J-K color, SI clarity; the balance of the diamonds range from near colorless and decorative in quality to approximately I-L color, SI-I clarity. There is significant tarnishing to the silver, and one small diamond missing from directly below the center stone.
