Description
- platinum, pearl, diamond
The necklace composed of 101 pearls graduating in size from approximately 6.4 to 3.2 mm, the clasp set with a marquise-shaped diamond weighing approximately .70 carat, length 18 inches, partially numbered 67. With fitted case. The bracelet set with six button-shaped pearls measuring approximately 5.7 to 5.6 mm, accented by numerous round and old European-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 1.10 carats, length 7¼ inches, numbered 3762, with French workshop and assay marks.
Condition
In good condition. The necklace has a remnant of what might be a French workshop mark and numbered 67 on the underside of the safety closure. The pearls are creamy white with soft rose and green overtones. They are largely unblemished although a few examples have minute pits that can only be seen under magnification. The diamond in the clasp is approximately J-K color, SI clarity. The pearls in the bracelet are button-shaped and creamy white with good luster. The diamonds are approximately H-I color, VS-SI clarity. The maker's mark on the bracelet depicts a bird bi-secting an R and G. The use of the dog's head to indicate platinum did not come into use until 1912. This bracelet, dating from circa 1910, therefore employs the eagle's head. Accompanied by a fitted box. The necklace accompanied by GIA report no. 1142385900 stating that the pearls are predominantly natural, saltwater. Please note that the pearls in the bracelet have not been tested for natural origin.
