- A FINE AND RARE AGATE, ENAMEL AND GOLD KEY-WIND DESK TIMEPIECE 1928 NO 3296.1819 FRANCE
- width 65 mm, height with handle raised 82 mm.
¿ European Watch & Clock Co. 15 jewel nickel lever movement with 3 adjustments ¿ fine guilloché centre, Roman numerals ¿ massive translucent agate case with carved corners,18k gold bow decorated with red and black enamel, black enamel bezel highlighted with red enamel squares ¿ dial, case and movement signed, bezel, case and dial reverse numbered
Condition
The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it might benefit from a service in the near future. Dial appears restored, probbaly by Cartier prior to presentation, in very good visual condition. The case in very good condition with no marks or chips. The reverse gold winding hold protectors are numbered HSA 762 and 924. The inner case, underside of the dial and inner bezel all all numbered the same (3296 - 1819)

With a winding key and a Cartier presentation box.
In celebration of its 75th Anniversary in 2003, the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong hosted a charity gala to raise funds for five non-government subvented organizations. The present clock was dontated to the event by Cartier with a specially made box engraved "In kind donation to The Peninsula Hong Kong's ꧒75th Anniversary Charity Gala". The clock was reportedly gifted as it was made in 1928, the same year the Peninsula Hotel was established.
