Description

• 10.85 ligne nickel lever movement, 17 jewels • en grisaille enamel dial in crimson depicting a classical maiden atop a lion, white enamel chapter ring with stylized Arabic numerals • diamond-set bezel with twelve faceted synthetic ruby-set triangular indexes, band engraved with Greek key motif, snap back • movement and case signed • with original ruby and diamond-set chain • approximate total diamond weight 4.65 cts

Condition

An exquisite example, made further rare by the addition of the original box and chain. The movement is currently running, however it may require service soon. The movement is further numbered 22107.The dial is in very good order with no visible imperfections. The case shows some light scuffs but excellent definition throughout and has likely never been polished.

Catalogue Note

With original fitted presentation box from Diener Hermanos, Mexico City. The illustrious boutique was known to have imported some of the finest Swiss watches for the elite of Mexico City, including the present lot from Longines.

Longines confirms production of this watch and its sale to Messrs Zivy, the firm's agent in Mexico on June 9th, 1921.

The present lot was a gift from the President of Mexico to a prominent Mexican politician at the time of the founding of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional by Plutarco Elias Calles in the late 1970s.
