Executed on cream wove paper and hinged to a window mat at several places around the perimeter of the verso. The sheet is a little undulated and a plate mark is clearly visible. The surface has been scraped as part of the artist's technique and a few small holes have resultsed, for example two nailhead-sized holes at the bird's right leg, three on the top right of its head, one on its lower right body and a one-inch tear along the lower left of its body. There is some possible smudging at upper right but overall the work appears to be in original state and good condition.
