Condition
This painting is unlined. There is a reinforcement on the reverse that attends to a small break in the canvas on the center right side and another in the upper left quadrant. This work has never been cleaned, but neither is it dirty. There is no varnish on the surface. Under ultraviolet light, tiny and accurate retouches are visible in the pale gray colors in the lower right and lower left, which diminish small white flecks of instability. These are only faintly visible in the lower right and slightly more visible in the lower left under ultraviolet examination. There are also retouches attending to the above mentioned reinforcements – in the upper left quadrant and in the center of the right side in the green pigment, about 5 inches from the right edge. The work is stable and should be hung as is. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.)
