Diamond and Ruby Brooch/Pendant, Early 19th Century

Description
Designed as a St Esprit set with rose diamonds, holding in its beak a similarly set foliate sprig suspending a ruby bead, detachable pendant bail, later brooch fitting, two small diamonds deficient.

Cf: Michael Poynder, Jewellery Reference and Price Guide, 2000, page 122, for an example of a similar St Esprit, symbolising the Dove of Peace popular througout the late 18th and first half of 19th Century.
Condition
Mounted in silver and gold. Ruby bead a medium slightly pinkish red with typical inclusions visible with magnification. Rose diamonds with typical subdued character. Two small diamonds deficient. Safety chain. Slight tarnish. In good condition.
