Description

  • 18 carat gold, mabé pearl, diamond
Comprising: a pair of ear clips each of radiating cluster design set with brilliant-cut and baguette diamonds, signed Van Cleef & Arpels N.Y and numbered; a pair of ear clips each set with a mabé pearl within a scalloped border of brilliant-cut diamonds, one signed VCA & numbered and a pair of ear clips each designed as a flower head, highlighted with brilliant-cut diamonds, signed VCA and numbered French assay and maker's marks.

Condition

Radiating cluster design: Signed on clip fittings, numbered NY 15497. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 2.60 carats, G-H colour, VS-SI clarity, as gauged and graded in mounting. Mabé pearls: Stamped 18K for 18 carat gold. One signed on side of clip fitting, numbered 3K358-5. Pearls of silvery white body colour, little blemishes. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 1.80 carats, G-H colour, VS-SI clarity, as gauged and graded in mounting. Flower design: Stamped with French assay marks and 750 for 18 carat gold. Signed on clip fittings, numbered G3161 A1. Diamonds bright and lively. All: Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition.

Catalogue Note

Serge Lifar was a famous dancer and choreographer born in Kiev in 19ཧ05. He joined the Ballets Russes in Paris in 1923. He quickly attained the status of "danseur etoile" and went to become choreographer, director and maître de ballets of the Paris Opera in 1930, collaborating with the leading artist of the 🐎day such as Picasso, Bakst, Goncharova, Leger for stage design and costumes and with Poulenc and Stravinsky for music. He danced his last ballet in 1956 and continued to pursue an international career in choreography. Serge Lifar passed away in Lausanne in 1986.

Founded in 1989 by his companion, the late Countess Lillan Ahlefeldt-Laurvig, the Fondation Serge Lifar is aꦰ not f꧂or profit charity based in Liechtenstein whose purpose is to promote, protect, defend and perpetuate the art of dance and choreography. Each year the Foundation awards grants to promising young dancers and in doing so it exposes the life and work of Serge Lifar to a new generation thus ensuring his memory lives on.
