Very attractive pair of emerald and diamond pendent ear clips, Van Cleef & Arpels, circa 1970

Description

Each suspending a detachable pendant set with a pear-shaped emerald weighing 14.37 and 14.53 carats respectively, within a two row border of brilliant-cut diamonds, from a later added surmount of cluster design set with brilliant-cut and marquise-shaped diamonds, pendants signed VCA and numbered, surmounts with maker's marks.

Condition

Stamped PT950 for platinum and 750 for 18 carat gold. Each pendant signed V.C.A and numbered G. 838 CS, each surmount with maker's marks for Van Cleef & Arpels. According to the SSEF report, the emeralds measure 25.60 x 14.42 x 6.98mm and 25.40 x 14.11 x 6.79mm respectively, and weigh 14.537 and 14.370 carats respectively; the emerald weighing 14.537 carats with minor indications of oil in fissures, the emerald weighing 14.370 carats with moderate amount of oil in fissures; green of medium strong saturation, both of Colombian origin. Both emeralds with typical crystal inclusions visible to the naked eye, very few surface reaching, one minor nick to table visible under x10 magnification. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 32.00-38.00 carats, mixed colours and clarities, on average H-J colour, VS clarity, as gauged and graded in mounting. Clapsable post fittings, clip fittings secure. Signs of normal wear to the metal consistent with use. In good condition.
