Description

  • Marcus & Co.
  • platinum, diamond, natural pearl
Designed as a bow with articulated ribbons set with numerous old European and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 10.00 carats, suspending two natural pearl drops measuring approximately 7.8 and 7.7 mm, signed M & Co, numbered A31518.

Exhibited

Artistic Luxury: Fabergé, Tiffany, Lalique, Cleveland Museum of Art and the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, September 15, 2008-June 15, 2009, cat. 201, pages 239 and 254.

Condition

In very good condition and well-made with a delicate design. The 508 old European and single-cut diamonds are approximately F-H color, predominantly VS clarity. The two pearl drops have a silvery white body color with one pearl exhibiting a slightly golden hue. The pearls have good luster with light ringing; minor peeling of the skin of the more golden colored pearl seen under magnification. The top hinge on the bow's left ribbon is slightly looser than the top hinge on the right ribbon, probably due to wear and age. The lower links are nicely articulated, providing an attractive movement. Maker's mark on the lower rim of the central swag. Illegible scratch number next to Marcus & Co. number. Accompanied by GIA report no. 1142846432 stating that the pearls are natural, saltwater.
