Description

  • Josef Sudek
  • FROM THE 'GLASS LABYRINTH' SERIES
  • Gelatin silver print
signed and dated in pencil in the margin, credit, title, and date in pencil on the reverse, 1968 (Fárová, p. 387)

Condition

This photograph, on matte-surface double-weight paper, is in generally very good to excellent condition. Silvering is visible primarily in the black margin edges and in the lower right corner of the image. Upon very close examination, the following are visible: a few tiny deposits of original retouching overall; and a very small brown deposit of indeterminate nature in the lower portion of the image near the cut-glass object. The black margin edges are slightly rubbed. There are 2 small horizontal creases (measuring no larger than 1/2-inch) that appear to break the emulsion in the upper and right margins. On the reverse of the print are 2 small hinge remnants along the upper edge.
