This photograph is on paper with a semi-glossy surface. The print has all of the detail one would expect from Weston, and the perfect balance in contrast and tone that makes his prints so pleasing. When examined closely, some very faint fading and slight attendant discoloration can be seen on the lateral and top edges. In close raking light, a small area of original retouching just above Charis's head can be seen. None of these issues is overly obtrusive, nor do they detract in a measurable way from the overwhelmingly fine appearance of this early Weston print.

By late in 1946, Ichiro Misumi was corresponding with Edward Weston directly, and he purchased the nude study offered here not from The Museum of Modern Art, but from the photographer.
