modelled as an allegory of Winter, an old bearded man, partially draped, leaning on a tree trunk in contemplation, a small fire burning at his feet, the underside impressed with manufactory marks and date
Condition
the wrist of the proper right hand broken and repaired, the underside of the foot with a chip measuring 1.7 cm; would benefit from a professional cleaning

Catalogue Note
This design was first introduced at the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory during the reign of Catherine II. Because the manufactory at Kiev-Mezhigorsk was also state-owned, moulds and models were likely shared. See N. Wolf, Imperatorskii farforovyi zavod, 1744-1904 (ed. V.
