depicting the empty grave with the white swindles in the foreground flanked by two angels dressed in white with fiery red faces and hands, behind the grave the three myrrh bearing women looking at the left angel who points to the empty grave with his left hand, in the rocky landscape background a representation of the city of Jerusalem on the right and a representation of the ‘Noli Me Tangere’ scene on the left where Maria Magdalen is approaching the risen Christ who tells her not to touch Him, the icon in all probability coming from the Feastday row of an iconostasis
Condition
Large patches of wear to the painting at several places, especially in the architecture in the upper right corner, in the wings of the two angels, in the round stones in the lower left and right corner and in the maphorion of the Mother of God, some patches of new levkas, especially to the raised border of the icon, and in the white mantle of the angel sitting on the right, some retouching all over the painting, some damage along the edges of the panel
