Description
- Wood, tempera
- each measuring 41 by 31.6cm, 16 1/8 by 12 3/8 in.
painted in fine detail, both angels with stylised features and richly ornamented robes, with Michael at left and Gabriel on right, with the archangel Michael on the left and the archangel Gabriel on the right, with their heads inclined toward one another, both icons coming from an Angel-Deesis composition, the reverse of each applied with original paper tag of Hammer Galleries

The background of both icons stripped down to the levkas, the gilding of both halos redone, the painting of both icons covered with darkened varnish
