in Chinoiserie style, of amphora form flanked by two handles, the faceted body painted with stylised foliage, architectural elements and mythical birds on blue grounds, the central reserves decorated with images of men in Asian dress and scrolls on white ground, supported on a spreading foot moulded with Rococo scrolls, with red factory mark

Vases with decoration inspired by Chinese porcelain were🧜 unusual in Russian porcelain production at this time, and on🅷ly a few examples survive in museum collections. A pair of Imperial porcelain vases produced by the St. Petersburg porcelain manufactory during the same period was sold, Sotheby's New York, 21-22 April 2010, lot 258.
