Catalogue Note
The retailer J. Jaksch & Co. opened its first store in Riga in 1841, specialising in ceramics. The business was successful and grew to include watches and lamps, with hand-painted porcelain wares remaining especially popular. In 1901 a new store was built, the façade of the building finished with a mosaic produced by the German company Villeroy & Boch.
