set against an architectural background, representing the Blachernae church, showing in the centre the icon of the Hodigitria Mother of God, beneath her on the altar the relic of the robe of the Mother of God, standing on the left the Patriarch of Constantinople holding the Gospels, together with a group of church dignitaries, standing on the right the Byzantine Emperor Leo and the Empress, their hands raised in prayer

The background and border regilded, some retouching especially to the robes of the Emperor and the Empress and in the altar cloth
