Condition

This photograph, on double-weight paper with a surface sheen, is in generally very good condition. In raking light, the following are visible: 3 linear surface scuffs that do not break the emulsion (the longest measuring 4-1/2-inches) in the upper, center, and right portion of the image; and a few small surface scratches and impressions that do not break the emulsion overall. Upon very close examination, a few tiny deposits of original retouching are visible over flaws in the negative. The thin margin corners are bumped and creased. The reverse of the print is darkened and lightly soiled, primarily at its periphery, and there are 4 small hinge remnants along the upper edge. On the reverse of the print, are the following: 'Jede Reproduktion verboten' (stamped); '(h. a. 94)' (in pencil); 'H' (in china marker); 'Moderna-Verkauft' (in pencil); '27178-335006' (in pencil); and other unintelligible inscriptions.
