Canvas is not lined (two small patches on the reverse correspond to lower center and center right on recto). SURFACE: in good condition, generally; an old repaint (for a repaired tear) at center left is about 1.5 inches long (vertical and in the shape of an "I") UNDER ULTRAVIOLET: scattered inpainting; aforementioned repaired tear at right (appears as capital "L"); an area of small repaints for craquelure fill-in at left of center; a few spots in sky; two spots at lower center under ship (in front of one of the aforementioned patches); a spot at center right.
