Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonalities are brighter and more vibrant in the original. The illustration fails to convey highly textured areas of impasto in places. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Very close inspection reveals some very minor canvas draw to the top left corner, and a very small and unobtrusive chip to the dark grey impasto towards the left edge. Close inspection reveals a faint stretcher bar mark at the bottom edge towards the lower right corner and another to the lower right edge with an associated, very faint, hairline crack. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note

“Albert Oehlen’s work, with their overflowing visuality, their unflinching zapping between colors and forms, their constant changes of tempo, their gestures and experimental arrangement, once again make painting the theme ...there are disproportionate factors and constantly changing concepts of collision and merging that go beyond questions of orientation and hierarchy.”
