- mother of pearl, wood
of rectangular form, inlaid in mother-of-pearl, depicting two ladies in a terraced garden, dressed in long flowing robes, the reverse inlaid with a calligraphic inscription, all supported on a wood stand, carved in openwork with a pair of cranes underneath a pine tree, all raised on a stylized key-fret scroll (2)
Condition
Small losses to the mother-of-pearl inlay on both the front and back. There are cracks to the lacquer consistent with age, and an area of lacquer loss on the back approximately 1 in. (2.5 cm) long. In addition, there is an approximately 1 in. (2.5 cm) long shallow depression to the back of the middle of screen on the left side.
Some of the elements on the stand have been reattached.
