the silk ground woven with auspicious objects amidst clouds, embroidered in satin stitch with eight flower basket roundels interspersed with sprigs of wisteria, prunus, orchids and bamboo, the neck opening surrounded by a ruyi-cloud collar, embroidered with figures in a procession within a garden setting, the side opening and hem similarly embroidered, the sleeve bands worked in knotted stitch with a design of fruit and flowers in vessels, all edged with ribbon and blue piping
Condition
Small sections of the ribbon around the collar have become loose. A short section of the piping along the opening has been folded over and stitched down beneath the arm. There is some restitching on some of the button loops. There is staining on the ivory bands. The sleeve bands are possibly replaced. Some of the gold couching is loose on the lower front corners. The lining has faded and scattered stains.
