woven with a design of a flowering shrub in a jardinière, surrounded by an archaistic phoenix scroll frame that runs down the sides and fills the corners, with bamboo growing from behind the frame to the right and two elaborate lanterns hanging from the frame to the left, all against a metallic ground, enclosed by a border of geometric floral panels interrupted by everlasting knots at the corners and floral medallions on the sides, all within a blue band inscribed to the top Huanggong yuyong (for Imperial use in the Royal Palace)

Overall the colors of the carpet have faded, there are losses to the frayed edges and there is wear consistent with age and use.
