Designed as a graduated series of coiled snake links set with cabochon turquoises and pearls suspending floral motifs, the eyes set with round garnets, length 16 inches, 8 turquoise and 7 seed pearls missing; together with a pair of earrings of similar design, 2 turquoise and 2 seed pearls missing; both pieces circa 1830.
Condition
In good condition with signs of wear and discoloration to the silver-gilt, commensurate with age. NECKLACE: The small turquoise cabochons range from medium-light greenish blue to light blue, with some light mottling and matrix visible under close inspection. The pearls of various shapes and sizes exhibit a creamy white to silvery light gray body color with moderate rose overtones. Good luster and moderate blemishing in the form of pitting, cracking, and wrinkled skins. The garnets display a medium reddish brown-orange color and are decorative in quality. Approximately 8 small turquoise cabochons and 7 seed pearls missing. EARRINGS: The small turquoise cabochons range from medium greenish blue to light blue, with light mottling visible under magnification. The pearls are creamy to silvery white with soft pink and purple overtones. Good luster and moderate blemishing to the skins. The garnets are medium brownish orange and decorative in quality. Earwires at the tops of the earrings have been later added. Length of earrings approximately 2 1/8 inches. 2 small turquoise cabochons missing, one chipped. 2 seed pearls missing. Please note that 8 turquoise cabochons and 7 seed pearls are missing from the necklace and 2 turquoise cabochons and 2 seed pearls are missing from the earrings.
