Of foliate design, the larger brooch set with 20 oval-shaped sapphires weighing approximately 15.75 carats, framed by round, baguette and marquise-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 6.20 carats; the smaller brooch set with 15 oval-shaped sapphires weighing approximately 7.35 carats, framed by round, baguette, whistle and marquise-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 3.65 carats, both signed Bulgari, one indistinctly; circa 1965.
Condition
In good condition. The sapphires are well-matched for color, a medium-deep very slightly violetish blue, slightly more saturated than illustrated in the printed catalogue. The sapphires range from eye-clean to moderately included with several examples showing minor abrading to the facet junctions and surface scratching, visible only under magnification. The diamonds are approximately E-G color, VVS-VS clarity. Smaller brooch signed under removeable pin. Second part of pin stem on larger brooch appears to have been professionally removed. Copies of Bulgari appraisal from 1967 available upon request. Accompanied by AGL reports GB 55668 and GB 55667 stating that two of the sapphires, weighing .59 and .63 carat, have no indication of heating.
