Movement and chronograph function are in working order while cataloguing as well as calendar functions. Dial is nice and clean. Very light scuffs to the case. Strong hallmarks with no signs of any polishing. Buckle with visible surface scratches. Overall condition is very good. Launched in 1995, the Patek Philippe Ref.3990 was the manufacturer’s first complicated wristwatch to be adorned with diamonds and combine the skil꧂ls of haute joaillerie and haute horlogerie. Based on the perpetual calendar chronograph Ref.3970, the 3990 featured a bezel set with 40 baguette-cut diamonds and diamond set hour indexes on the dial the model featured its own unique reference number.

Available in a platinum case with either a black or grey dial, to date only 3 other examples of Patek Philippe Ref.3990 in platinum have🎉 appeared at auction, and only 1 other with a black dial, making the model one of the rarest examples of perpetual calendar chronograph available; replaced by the larger diameter Ref.5971 in 2007 the 3990, particularly in the most precious of metals with classic diamond set black dial, remains not only an icon to the vision of the company but deserves a place within any serious collection of Patek Philippe complications.
