Literature

Condition
The canvas is not lined. There is a thick layer of varnish which prevents the UV light from fully penetrating, but there do not appear to be any retouchings. There is a rich impasto surface and this work appears to be in overall very good condition.
Colours: overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, though the purple pigment is more lilac in the original.
