The canvas is laid down on board. There is a layer of varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, there appear to be no signs of retouching visible under UV light. There is a spot of paint loss to the right of the mother's orange headband, and some minor craquelure to the thicker white pigment of her robe. There is a lovely rich surface and this work is in good condition. Colours: Overall fairly accurate, though the colours are fresher in the original.
