Description

Set to the centre with a hexagonal-shaped emerald carved with floral and foliate motifs in the Mughal style, weighing 178.64 carats and measuring approximately 50 x 10 x 40mm, drilled at either side for suspension, probably late 17th/18th century, to a modern frame of foliate design embellished with brilliant-cut and pear-shaped diamonds, pendent loop and pin fittings to reverse.

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 68172, stating that the emerald is of Colombian origin, with moderate amounts of oil in fissures. Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Maker's mark. Emerald with some surface reaching inclusions, some scratches and nicks. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 10.00 - 11.00 carats, on average of G-H colour and VS-SI clarity, as gauged and graded in mounting, including the largest diamond estimated at approximately 1.60 carat. One pin secured with sliding safety catch. Signs of little wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition.
