Of oval form, the lid applied with an oval gold panel chased with amorini at play, signed with initials PG, the ground with an open work trellis of blue enamel enclosing rose diamond florets within acanthus borders, the sides divided by pilasters, maker’s mark, measuring approximately 77 x 61 x 48mm.
Condition
Maker's mark EM. Stamped with 750 for 18 carat gold. Enamel in good condition. Diamonds bright and lively. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition. Gross weight approximately 367 grams.

Catalogue Note
The box pays tribute to an earlier snuff box executed by Jean George in Paris, 1763 - 1764. This box is now in the collections of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
