The elongated rectangular case decorated top and bottom with periwinkle blue stripes of enamel, the sides and circular center section of solid periwinkle blue enamel, accented by a trim of small rose-cut diamonds, the interior fitted with a mirror and two covered powder compartments, with French assay and partial workshop marks; circa 1920.

In fair to good condition. Losses to enamel and repair along top edge and pendant loop. The previous enamel repair is of a slightly darker color than the original and has peeled and pitted in several spots. There is a chip to enamel at bottom corner. Loss of enamel in one stripe near the center of the front. Minor denting and scratching to the reverse. Scratches and wear overall to surface. The smaller interior compartment has two clamps that possibly held a small lipstick originally, now non-extant. There is also a cove that once held a comb, now non-extant as well. Partial maker's mark on upper rim of larger compact compartment of a crescent and an R in a vertical lozenge. To open the box, press inward on the pendant loop and the lid will flip upwards. Diamonds are of decorative quality. Measures 4 1/4" (excluding pendant loop) x 1 3/8" x 1/2".
