Condition

Nude Standing, front and back: The sheet is not laid down but is adhered via two hinges to a backing sheet along the top edge. There appears an old in-filled area of loss to the top edge of the top left corner. There is an area of faint creasing to the bottom left hand corner, with an old repaired tear. There is further horizontal creasing apparent along the top edge, with further very minor slight creases visible elsewhere to the sheet. Elsewhere there are further old repaired tears to the centre of the bottom edge, the centre of the left hand side and in the bottom right corner. There are further very minor slight tears to isolated areas along the extreme edges, not visible in the present mount. There is further very minor surface dirt and staining to the sheet apparent, and the ink is slightly faded, but this excepting the work appears in good overall condition. Housed behind glass in a thick gilt frame, set within a linen-textured mount. Seated Nude: The sheet has been laid down on to a semi-translucent backing tissue. There is minor cockling in the lower right hand corner and deckling to the extreme edges. There is a large repaired tear running up from the bottom edge in the lower left hand quadrant, through the right hand and on to the lower back, with a further crease running from this point to the extreme left edge and corresponding discolouration. There is a further repaired tear and area of possible in-filling in the top right extreme edge. Elsewhere there is minor dirt and staining, with discolouration from old mounting marks apparent in the upper corners. Housed behind glass in a silver-painted frame, set within a linen-textured mount. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
