Condition

The painting has an old glue relining, both paint surface and support are in good condition. There is a minor surface abrasion in the background above the head. Inspection under UV reveals scattered minor retouches through the flesh tones though these have been sensitively applied. There are further minor areas of repaint: two each 1 by 1/4 in. in the cuff, 1 by 1 in. in the belt and 3 by 1/2 in. in the left sleeve. The painting is ready to hang in its present state and is offered in a carved gilt wood frame.
