Both paintings have been tightly relined and surfaces have been slightly pressed. detail remains good and paintings read well. examination under ultraviolet reveals that both have extensive areas of retouchings throughout. some of these are to address old tears or probable punctures and others are more cosmetic to reinforce some of the shadows. both have two horizontal lines of retouching that run through center which appear to be over an old stretcher bar mark. these paintings have been pulled together, but the reworkings have been effective and these paintings can be hung as is and make a quite decorative statement.
