Painted on copper plate which is flat. under a dirty old varnish. old discolored and small retouches and filled losses visible and scattered throughout. some of this appers to be addressing small pits due to copper disease and this gives the surface an uneven appearance. under UV light: it is hard to read due to uneven varnish; there are a few more recent retouches here and there on top of the old varnish. In an elaborately carved and gilt wood and plaster frame with losses.
