Condition

Glue relining. under an uneven old varnish. the surface has been pressed and abraded, mainly in the browns. the red drapery of the central figure is better preserved and reads quite well. there is a paint loss at lower right corner. under ultraviolet light: there are some scattered retouchings in background at left side; some on hair and feathered headdress of man, on his armor and a few on red drapery. on female figure, some retouches can be seen on her white blouse. there could be others, but it is hard to read through the old varnish. In an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame with minor nicks.
