Description
- Edward Weston
- 'TEXAS SPRINGS, DEATH VALLEY'
- Gelatin silver print
signed, titled, and dated and with reduction notations in pencil on the reverse, 1938 (Edward Weston's Gifts to His Sister, p. 49)
Provenance
Sotheby's New York, Photographs from the Private Collection of Margaret W. Weston, 25 April 2007, Sale 8387, Lot 44
Condition
This unmounted photograph is on double-weight paper with a glossy finish. When it is examined closely, a very faint 3/4-inch crease can be seen on the upper portion of the left edge this breaks the emulsion slightly, but is difficult to see. Each of the four corners is worn and has some minor emulsion loss. There is some retouching in the loss in the upper left corner. These condition issues are not immediately apparent, and they do not detract in a serious way from the fine appearance of this print.
There are abrasions to the upper paper-ply on the reverse of the print. The reduction notations in pencil on the reverse are faint and mostly illegible.
