Condition
This early warm-toned print, on double-weight paper with a very slight surface sheen, is in generally excellent condition. There is minor wear at the edges, and there is light soiling in the margins, primarily at the periphery.
The reverse is lightly soiled. The number in pencil, '2001-62-1055,' has been marked through.

Julien Levy featured Rotan’s work in his show of Photographs of New York by New York Photographers, held in May and June of 1932. The present image is Rotan’s most famous, and was done originally as a mural design.
