Catalogue Note
The arms are those of Jerome, King of Westphalia 1807-1813, youngest brother of Napoleon. He married first in 1803 Elizabeth Patterson of Baltimore, then secondly in 1807 Princess Catharine of Wurttemburg. This silver belongs to the first of two services Jerome ordered from for his new kingdom. Jerome auctioned the set in Stuttgart on March 4, 1819; part was acquired by Seethaler and sold to the King of Bavaria, is still preserved in Munich; other pieces are in the Hessisches Landesmuseum.
