Catalogue Note

This is a model of the privately-owned English yacht Kaylena.

Kaylena was designed and built in 1926 by W. Fife and Sons of Fairlie, U.K.  In 1929 under the name of Moyanna she was owned by Wilfried Leuchars and registered at Greenock, U.K.  In 1932 under the name Morwenna she belonged to Capt. John Bruce Bolitho.  At Cowes she was sometimes skippered by Sir Giles Loder, Bt. of Leonardslee, Sussex, member of the Royal Yacht Squadron and as late as 1958 ran in practice against Britain’s new challenger for the America’s Cup Sceptre off Rhode Island.  She disappeared in 1970 (information partly taken from British National Yachting Archive).
