- width 9.2cm, 3 5/8 in.
the surface reeded overall in sunburst pattern, the lid inlaid and stippled with vari-coloured gold Cyrillic initials RB, cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, the end with vesta compartment, the interior with later blue-enamelled signature 'Magdeleine de Montebello', struck with workmaster's initials AW, 56 standard, in leather case for Arnd, St Petersburg, dated in ink 1893
Provenance
French politician Marie-Magdeleine Aymé de la Chevrelière, née Lannes de Montebello (1906-1976) was the granddaughter of Gustave Lannes de Montebello, French ambassador to St. Petersburg from 1891 to 1902.
Condition
Excellent condition, the leather case timeworn and with corner loss.
