the Mother of God depicted half-length dressed in a dark red maphorion pointing with her right hand in a formal gesture to the Saviour, the Christ Child sitting on his Mother's left arm, wearing an ochre coloured himation covered with chrysography and holding a closed scroll in one hand while making a sign of blessing with the other, with later restoration

Condition

The original icon has been enlarged on all four side by a wooden frame of circa 2cm wide, the gold ground worn, patches of later levkas and traces of nails visible in the backround, some restoration in the faces and in the mantle of the Mother of God, the gilding partly redone, some darkened varnish and dirt
