Christ descending into the underworld at the centre of the icon, encompassed in a blue mandorla and wearing gold vestments, crushing the gates of hell and raising Adam from the grave, Eve kneeling and dressed in bright red clothes, to the left King David and King Solomon wearing crowns, together with St John and the Prophet Daniel, to the right the Prophet Moses and other Old Testament figures

The background and border of the icon stripped to the levkas, some minor retouching to the painting, a thin vertical restored crack running through the panel from top to bottom
