both figures painted in great detail on a gold ground, St Peter to the left holding a closed Gospel book and the keys of heaven, St Paul to the right also holding the closed Gospel book and a sword symbolising his martyrdom, the hems of the tunics highlighted with gold

Condition

A hole in the upper part of the panel, a restored vertical crack starting from the hole and running to the bottom, some damage to the gold ground, the icon covered with dirt and darkened varnish, the painting with some minor damage but in very good condition.
