the Mother of God Enthroned with the Christ Child on her lap, surrounded by a large nimb and by a choir of angels in front of a large orthodox church, in the lower part of the scene prophets and saints praising the Virgin, all standing on a rocky ground, in the upper left and upper right the symbolic representation of the sun and the moon
Condition
A vertical crack running from top to bottom through the centre of the painting. The crack restored and considerable areas of reapinting along the crack. Some more retouching to the painting, especially to the faces of the figures. The border regilded. A patch of loss of paint and levkas to the lower border which is not visible in the catalogue photo.
