the complex iconographic composition based on the Old and New Testament, in the centre Jesus Christ depicted as the Judge of mankind, flanked by the Mother of God and St John the Baptist, at his feet Adam and Eve, below two angels preparing the Throne for the Second Coming, in the upper section the New Testament Trinity surrounded by angels, in the lower section a snake with roundels some inscribed with the name of a sin, at the bottom right the blazing inferno of hell, in the lower left corner saints standing in row to enter the garden of Paradise, on the left and right border one guardian angel and five saints
Condition
Several cracks appearing in the panel, flaking of paint on several spots, some wear to the painting and some retouching, the background largely regilded, the icon covered with darkened varnish and dirt, the icon would benefit from professional restoration
