Condition
The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.:
This work has been lined with a non-wax glue as an adhesive. The lush and heavy paint layer is in very good state. A handful of tiny retouches in the tree on the right have been added to reduce some cracking. Despite some original paint reading strongly under ultraviolet light, there are no other actual retouches within the picture, except possibly a couple of spots in the lower left sky. The work should be hung as is.

Catalogue Note
Alfred Robaut refers to a replica of the present work which is now in the Hamburger Kunsthalle Museum. Martin Dieterle has confirmed that the present work, painted 1865-70, is no. 1748 in the Robaut catalogue raisonne and therefore executed before the Hamburg replica.
